I would also take in to account of a "better" performance tire. .

I'm glad someone said it. Tires make the biggest difference in the performance world than any of those mods. You can make 1000hp, it doesn't mean anything if you can't put it to the ground.

I think of tires as if you can't figure that out to begin with maybe you should not be able to put the power down to begin with LOL common sense

You say common sense but tires are overlooked all the time. Go to your local cars and coffee and meet and start reading tire types and brands on rodded up cars. Tires are not sexy so not many people care to look into them. ****, the previous owner of my SHO has some junk Chinese tires on it when I bought it.

Exactly my point. People who don't need to put the power down anyways. :smash: If people can't understand the basic concepts of performance aspects then that's on them ha

Exactly right, it’s kid stuff. They get the glamorous items like wheels and stereos while neglecting what’s important.

It's recommended to wrap your downpipes, but I think that if you can fork over a few more bucks, you could have them ceramic-coated and gain an even better barrier to heat. When I get to doing the pipes on my car, I plan to do all of it in ceramic coating, including the intakes and so on.

I'll probably go with jet-hot.com. They have a ton of attractive finishes that would dress up the engine bay on top of making the intake and exhaust system heat resistant.

Which, I suppose, opens a question: would wrapping or coating your intake tubing make the air entering the engine even cooler? I don't know how much heat soak makes its way into the intake system before the turbo.

It has been discussed. Wrapping the cold side piping does not effectively lower charge temp pre-intercooler.

I know that sitting for any period at idle before a run will heat soak the intake tubes. So I would imagine wrapping those tubes with reflective aluminum insulation tape should low that process. But then again, the better approach may be to contain the heat in the headers instead of reflecting it off the intake tubes.

The intake manifold being cast aluminum and bolted directly to the heads is the epicenter to that issue. A phenolic spacer would be the solution to that issue and is being developed over the last few months. Unfortunately the wrapping the intake piping wouldn't have much effect if any at that point.

Well, fair enough ... I might still do it solely for aesthetics, so all my pipes match. Maybe. That is a lot of money for bling bling, though.

It's perfectly ok to address issues of aesthetics, or as you say, "bling bling".

Despite the varying costs therein.

****, even Jordan has succumbed to the aesthetics himself as of late. Painting his pipes, brake calipers, seat bracket mounts, etc.

Part of one's "theme" is to address BOTH the aspects of performance and the bling departments respectively.

Ultimately it's your ride. Do whatcha want.

Mod away and post up whatcha do! We all inspire eachother. Whether we know it, or not.

100% correct in that respect. I knew about BPD's SHO way before I pulled the trigger on mine and his SHO was a reason I jumped backed in our platform. I owned a Gen 2 before I bought my Gen 5.

Have to enjoy your own ride. To each their own! I would had preferred powder coating my pipes but couldn't justify the price so ended up painting. All said and done all about what you want to do to your vehicle and this is just a general guideline that if I were going solely for power this is the direction I'd go! Just as long as you guys aren't putting ecobeast badges in your cars... That's an unforgivable sin to me sorry guys!

I rock one on my ST's steering wheel....just because I can't bring myself to put it on the outside! Lol. Guilty pleasure.
