HELLO ALL I'm a little confused so I was hoping y'all could help me out. My 94 mtx has been cutting off when I'm at cruising speeds & when idling. If I'm coming to a stop & It cuts off, It doesn't want to start back up "cranks over" have to wait for about a hour at the most then It starts & runs fine & if I'm at crusing speeds & It cuts off I just pop the clutch & It keeps going. I do think its the cps. I pulled the codes 5 times & cleared each time. 4 out of the 5 times I got the same 2 codes, 211 (PIP) fault &, 542 fuel pump secondary circuit fault. The 211 probably the cps & the 542 probably from stalling. Well here's the confusing part. Each time I let It run in the garage until It would quit and tried to start it several times to make sure it wasn't going to fire up, then I would pump the gas peddle to the floor & It would start up." not every time" It would run like crap for a second but if i kept the gas to it like above 3 or 4 thousand it would run ok. I'm guessing I have 2 different problems? So let me know what y'all think. THANKS!!!!!!

you need to change the crank position sensor.

The issue you mention with keeping the pedal floored, when the engine dies from no spark (as is the case with a cps failure), there is unburnt fuel left in the cylinders, and wet plugs. It likely just needs to dry out some before it will hot start, and by pressing the accel pedal down, you are cutting flow to the injectors.

Yea I here you both on the cps needing to be replaced I was going to replace it sometime this week but I still think that something is counter acting with the cps. When the cps fails & It cuts off I can sit there and try It all I want but It's not going to fire up It happen several times so I got to let It sit. I'm saing that I let it run in the garage until it would quit & it wasn't firing back up tried it several times & I would press the gas & It would start up & run as long as I kept the rpms up. It just don't make sense that's all. What your saying ^ is a fact & makes sense but in this case how is it starting up when I mat the gas? Anyway I appreciate the replays & input. I'm going to change the cps & see how It goes.

As a CPS fails, it can have intermittent issues. IOW, just because it dies from a CPS does not mean it will not start right back up, at least some of the time. Others, it may not start for an hour, a day, a week. Bottom line, fix the CPS, then you can see if any problems remain. But trying to diagnose anything else while the CPS is bad will be frustrating to say the least.

The CPS isn't that bad to change if you get your tools and parts together before you start. If you've never done it before plan on 4-5 hours at least, but once you've done it once it should only take a couple hours. The main tools you'll want other than standard sockets are: long 3/8 extension, 5mm hex socket, feeler gauge (for new CPS), crank pulley/steering wheel puller, torch (to heat up crankshaft before you put it back on), jack...simply procedure, just time consuming.
