I only have problems when hard accelerating from 2nd gear to 3rd and from 4th to 5th gear. Everything else is ok when not accelerating or on normal shifting. Anyone know have an idea?

Thanks

Sorry about that, it feels like its not shifting into gears all the way into 3rd or 5th, only when accelerating hard. Under normal shifting, those gears are fine.

I was having troubles shifting through the gears. I thouht I was having trany problems but i just had it rebuilt. Finnaly I took off my center console and noticed that my linkage was completly dry. I shot wd 40 to loosen it up and I was able to shift it into gears smoothly. If the cables do not zero out you work against each other.I would start there though. Hope its an easy fix for you

the ball and socket on my rod shifter are extemley worn, it makes it very hard to shift unless you are used to the car.

Yea, thats right..... Mine is a cable shifter.(89)but wether it's a cable or rod the two different rods or cable have to neutralize or you'll work against the other.
Guess you need to get underneath and make a visual while some one is moving the shifter. ALWAYS SAFETY FIRST

I have a '92, I'll look around more to what else the problem could be.
