i did a search, but not too much useful info came up. heres the problem:

i recently replaced my clutch and flywheel a few weeks ago. after the car is warmed up, it is hard to shift fast from first to second, the shifter goes through neutral, and then wants to stop before going into second. it only does it on this shift. my tranny is full of fluid and everything looks good underneath. alignment problem? syncro problem?

any ideas on what to check or do?

Well, before we condemn that - Was it ever doing this before the clutch job? What fluid did you use when you refilled it? How did the fluid you drained out look?

I have the exact same problem. 1-2 shift is really difficult, especially at high rpms. After replacing my clutch I overfilled the tranny because the front was still on jack stands and therfore tilted. I drained fluid back to the appropriate level a few weeks later and it feels somewhat better but is still too hard for my taste. I think it is time for a trans refresh for me.

it wasnt really doing it before the clutch job, at least not like it is now. the fluid i used was mercon ATF. a possiblity that you mentioned was overfilling it, that is very possible seeing that i did fill it while it was on jack stands, exactly how much do i need in there?

Ditto what I was going to say, except I have a question for you also. How did you drain the tranny? Did you make the drain plug? Did you siphon it out? This may be a key point in your problem depending on how you did it.

Blocking rings are not to be ruled out, however if it didn't do this before the clutch job and you drained your transmission properly I would be more inclined to say that it's somthing to do with the shifter, pressure plate or associated hardware.

A comlete tranny refill, including empty case halves (which you can't do with a siphon) is 2.9 quarts. The easiest way to fill the transmission that I've found it to refill it without the car jacked up at all. Just remove the air box assembly and reach down to the fill plug and remove it. Use a long hose to refill it and if it's overfull the level position of the car will naturally drain the excess fluid. If you think you have overfilled it just remove the full plug like above. As for the tough shifting.... with the car running press the clutch in and shift to first, with the clutch still in try to shift to a different gear, and I'm sure it'll feel as smooth as silk. How many miles of stop and go traffic did you break the new clutch in with?

alright i think im going to give that a try, now another question, how do i completely empty the case? i started her up and like you said she would, it shifts though all the gears smooth as butter. i put 750 city miles of driving on before even giving her a few runs up to the higher rpm's. thanks for all your help so far
