Shifter spins?

So I'm messing w/my shorty shifter, which I got from Jose. I get everything set just where I want it, lock everything in place, go to test and feel the shifter actually spin in my hand! I look a little closer and it's actually spinning in the base! Any ideas as to why? Thanks, Kevin.

I don't know how many of the OEM parts are retained in the short shifter, but my rod shifter had the same problem. See my topic here.

My rod shifter also had the same pronlem. I ended up just going to an ecology junk yard and getting a new base with the shifter in it.
