another thing you could try is changing the swapping out the computer for a d4u1? It supposedly has better shift points.

Yes there is a shift kit. Im not sure what brand it was, but i had one installed when i rebuilt my atx. When at WOT, the car would chirp the 1-2 shift every time. It was cool.

Cool, yeah been wanting the D4UI computer. I have a 92 X2J out of my 90 that I would like to trade for. Yeah, Im still looking online to find the kit. Transgo really isnt a shift kit. I had talked to them.

Ive been wondering about the lpm tune they have on shosource it allows you to change the shift points and allows you to tune for mods you have done to the car. If it does change the shift points like it says then that would be pretty sweet. Im tired of my car shifting from 1-2 at 6500. and 2-3 at 6300

Actually, TransGo is the ONLY REAL SHIFT KIT. They Copyrighted the term. Gill (Gill Younger, Owner of TransGo) has been fixing transmissions since the 60's. They invented the term Shift Kit and are the only company actually fixes issues within these transmissions.

That said, we still offer our Custom Built ATX transmission for these cars. They are a little spendy, but you only have to buy one of them....ever. We also offer our SCT chips and custom programming for these cars. No need to waste money on a D4U1 computer when we can tune the H3Z2 (or any other Ford computer).

Give us a call. Find out for yourself who really knows about these cars.

For the money, an LPM will make a nice difference...
My ATX shifted HORRIBLY... I was going to do the same thing as you..
Till I put in the LPM.. NIGHT and DAY difference.. adds timing, bumps idle up.
Snaps shifts off at 7,000rpm, 1-2-3.. Moves the limiter up, no nuetral limiter.
Firms the shifts up nicely, and quickens them up.
I can not only chirp them in second, I can get good rubber in second!!
So, BEFORE you tear stuff apart, and spend lots of time and money, get an LPM, its only 150 bucks, and if it doesnt help, you can sell it on here..
