Well after about 420 hours, wink and a lot of cuts, My ATX-MTX conversion is done and running. beer beer thumbs_u Last night I had to change the air bypass valve, and recharge the battery, and then this morning, she just started up and after a minute of warming up, idled great and guess what, NO CHECK ENGINE light lit. :D Now I just need exhaust from the y-pipe back, this weekend it will be done. OH without exhaust she sounds ricier than one of those punk's honda's. oh_my
Anyone who says that you cannot put a MTX into a ATX is not a person who would do hard labor on their own car, like a clutch, or motor swap- IMHO, and should not be saying it cannot be done, unless they have tried it before. I was told it was not worth it, too much $$ and time. Well I have a beautiful SHO to prove them wrong. Now I need to get together with more of the Lone Star guys, and go for a ride around our beautiful state. thumbs_u
The Forum is the best place in the world to learn useful information about our cars, thank you to all who post and help us; Pat, Scott, Mike, Adam, there are so many of you out there, Thanx, Craig At work I have to use a differant Logon, than at home.

Good work Craig! :)

I don't think there's ever been a doubt it could be done. I think the trepidation is that it is highly labor intensive (as you well know!), and requires a good deal of skill. Also, I think a lot of people contemplating doing it would aim to just acquire the individual parts necessary and not a whole donor car.

I'm sure a lot of people will have a ton of questions for you, maybe if you have the time you could put a little article describing the whole process together to add to the forum archives. Even better if you happened to take any pictures!

Again, kudos! thumbs_u

half-way there, I think.
I quess it all adds up to what your time is worth. 420 hours at only $20 an hours is $8400 bucks - to much for me in my opinion. But I give you props for doing it and proving that it can be done. thumbs_u

Well it was either sit back and watch tv, or turn wrench, I prefer to work on my toys in my garge. wink Buick Grand National, thumbs_u 3 SHO's. oh_my A Blazer. I do not see it as a investment of 8500 $$of time, I see it as I have lessthan a grand cash into a perfect SHO after sellingthe parts I did not need.(ATX,etc.) AND I BUILT MY SHO FROM SCRATCH.
OH YEAH I did take a few hundred pics along the way. And I will have a manual for this procedure in the coming weeks. :D It is not rocket science, and not that time consuming after the first time. I have over 400hours in it due to the fact I got the car without a gastank, wiring, and spent alot of time modifing some stuff and cleaning things thouroughly.
Also how else do you get a MTX in great condition without paying $5000? ATX's especially wife's cars are usually in good shape, some great,(I got super lucky). MTX's, we beat to ****, and back, fix em and run them till they blow.Thenfix em again. How could you not, 7k rpm, 5 spd, in a sleeper shell. I am glad god gave me the gift of working on cars, Craig

Congratulations Craig, you beat me to it. I am in the process of doing the same conversion, but unfortunately I have not had enough time to work on it.

I hape to have my SHO running in the next couple of months. You are right it is a great deal of work, but other wise everything so far has been very straight forward.

You can see my progress on my web page.
