I was just kidding about Rob asking how strong the tranny was. Both guys that own Scottsdale Vehicle Concepts have buggys with Mendeola trannies in them. One with a mid engined 3.8 Super Coupe motor and the other with a 4.6 Cobra motor. I think both of them have broken their trannies.

Mr. King, funny YOU should ask about suspension. I'm using King coilovers, two at each of the back corners and one at each front. It's set up as a "plus 40" buggy, meaning that in the rough stuff, it doesn't feel very smooth until you hit about 40 mph. At 60-75 she's very smooth. When you get to about 80 and higher though, you get this "disconnected" feeling. Like the tires are only hitting the crests of the whoops; and they aren't in contact with ground long enough to give you steering stability. It's downright scary how fast this thing goes. I usually chicken out about halfway through third gear at about 80-90 mph.

I am planning on running larger tires and rims up front to add some weight. I'll also put a larger ice chest up in the nose. I could soften up the rear suspension to keep from doin wheelies, but that would **** me in the rough whoops at the bottom of all the Competition Hills.

Everybody keeps saying that I'll have to learn how to steer with the rear steering brakes, because the front end will be in the air most of the time. I bet that won't be fun.

This of course in addition to the current Ice Chest you have in the passenger footwell for beverages:thumb:

Jose,

I'm not, a tuning shop that has a Mustang Dynamometer and fancy computers is doing it. It's what they do day in and day out, usually to SVT Cobra's and Lightnings. They were going to use my existing H3Z but I asked if they could also tune the D4U1 out of the newer ATX cars and after checking to see if it was on his softwares' list, said he could.

Both partners in this shop are avid "Duners", so when I went to them with my questions about performance in the Dunes, they said, "there is no replacement for displacement OR Positive Displacement Blowers."

I could have gone with turbos and gotten more horsepower, but it would have been in the rpm range that I don't frequent except at the sand drags. I want low end punch. That means either a V-8 or a PD Blower. Since I like the looks of the Yamaha ( and so does everyone else in the crowd that gathers at the rear of my buggy when we are at the Drags) I decided to just add an Eaton blower off of an old T-bird SC.

She should be all tuned by thursday or friday of this coming week.

What exactly do they do, rewrite the program on the EEC?

Do they use a chip?

You are using an ATX computer?

They use a chip by SCT I think. I'm using a stock computer off a 94 ATX, one of the Bondurant SHO in fact. I didn't want to disable one of my usable SHOs.

I'm looking for a couple of spare D4U1's just in case I need them. Anybody have any to spare?

Tom, I hope they can chip it. I found out earlier this week that one of the tuning shops near me can not tune a s/c SHO because they cannot datalog the spark. He said fuel...no problem, but he cannot datalog the spark. This was SCT too BTW. Hopefully you can prove him wrong and when you do, let me know because I really would like to have my LPM replaced with the SCT and not the tweecer.

They put a Lightning 90mm on her since they have lots of those leftover from when they upgrade the Lightnings to 300 or 350's or whatever those nuts do to their trucks.

Tom, any news on the SCT deal?:dribble:

Nothing yet. The tuning shop was waiting for a file to be emailed over for his software. This comes from the Specialty tuning department of Super Chips and they won't let anyone have direct contact with the programmer guy. Top secret and all that. Still not ready. I found another D4U1 to have as a backup out in the dunes.

Rewiring the buggy for an MTX computer would be first on my list along with a TwEECer. This guy will spend all this time *tuning* your car, while another familiar guy will come a long and put a TwEECer on your computer and find all the things the other guy missed.

Sounds to me like you are actually tuning by mail...

FPN...I don't even want to go there. Atleast the guy in Orlando I contacted ALREADY had the software and was 100% upfront that he could not tune my car after reviewing the file a few times. Now for the N/A cars...there was plenty he said he could do.

I agree completely. You're running in gimp-computer mode as it sits now. I think you would be surprised at how much power you can pick up with just an MTX computer.
