That fits under a stock exhaust manifold?

What kind of oil filter relocator setup did you use? Do you use the stock oil cooler?

You even have a polished floor jack? :oogle:

Well, not a stock manifold, but a custom header.

The oil filter relocation was not a kit. The replacement diverter is from Canton Racing Products. Since I had to lose the oil heat exchanger also, I had to make a metric ****** to connect the Canton diverter to the SHO block.

I don't have any cooler right now. Will probably end up with a stacked plate style in front of the radiator.

Cheapie chrome floor jack from Checker Auto, that's small enough to fit in the jack brace of my shop's lift. The fact that it was polished chrome has no bearing on my ownership of aforementioned said piece of equipment. :p

Thanks Tony.

That would be an interesting setup if you could fit an eaton side mounted inside an ATX/MTX SHO engine compartment.

I'm trying to follow the air path. The intake air is from the back of the blower, correct? And is that a fuel dist. block mounted on the back of the intake?

The air comes from a 4" tube hidden underneath the top right tube that goes from the blowers' output to the intercooler at top right. That lower tube has the air cleaner on it normally and yes it does go in the back of the blower. It exits the blowers' top, but since I have rotated the blower 90 degrees, the air exits out the side.

We thought we would mess with some minds on that fuel distribution block. Fuel coming from the pump enter the bottom left of the block and exits out the two left tubes, one for each bank of the fuel rails. Coming out of the fuel rails at the timing cover end, we have two more 3/8" SS tubes that go to the right side of that same fuel distribution block. Out the bottom of the right side we have a flex hose going to the regulator, and then on some more flex to the tank. It came out looking nice don't you think?

I'm going to do my power steering hoses in SS tubing this summer.

The throttle body is pre-blower (just to the right of the blower). The eliminates the need for a blow off valve and keeps everything under vacuum when the throttle body is closed.

The tuning shop got her to idle like a SHO motor should last night. Will start working on the fun stuff now.

She's in great company too; when I went there this morning to put some fresh 91 octane in her tank, she was parked next to a very nice original AC Cobra. I'll post pics later.

I think it may, perhaps where the AC pump is current located?

That is what I was thinking. You could make up an adapter plate that bolts to the AC mounting bracket and the blower. You could still keep the lower part of the bracket that is the engine mount. Since I had a non SHO engine mount on the buggy, I mounted my adapter plate right to the block.

There was someone already working on this setup a while ago. I don't know where the project is or if it's still a go. I do know the eaton was mounted where the a/c pulley was and the plumbing looked a little funky, but it turned over and ran (poorly-pretune) at some point.

Update:

Like AutoSHO and others had stated, the stock MAF pegged out at about 1/4 throttle. They put on one from a 99 Lightning and it's idleing fine now. They're going to call me when they do the final tuning runs on the Dyno so I can get it on videotape. He asked me how strong my Mendeola tranny was. ???? Why would he want to know that?

Is this a simple bolton upgrade or does it require remaping of the fuel curves? I waasn't aware OBD I and OBD II were compatable.

Anything but simple. They will have to redo the fuel curve and the timing tables. Everything was custom fabricated by Troy of Modern Automotive in Phoenix. Okay, I helped on some of it, but he did all the layout and thinking and cutting and tig welding etc., etc.

This is AWESOME Tom!

:hail: Boosted SHO powered off-road missile :hail:

I cannot even imagine feeling so much power in such a rig.
A scene from the Movie "Armageddon" comes to mind.... its when the "crazy guy" has officially flipped out and he it "riding" the huge nuclear warhead.

"Ah come on guys.... I just wanted to feel the power between my legs!!!"

Like any MAF other than the stock unit (or one programmed to mimick it), you will have to reprogram the computer to match the MAF's response curve. OBD1/2 has nothing to do with it, all the MAF does is turn a given amount of airflow into a given voltage signal. The plug is different on the two MAFs however, so some splicing will be necessary.

Good form sir .. I have thought for years that these engines are exellent Street-Rod matterial or even a Jet-Boat . That is an awsome Hot-Rod you have there . I like seeing work like that :corn: . It is a true art form indeed . Tuning the suspension to keep the wheels on the ground may be a PITA . What are you planning using to do so ? What kind of rear suspension are you using ?
