do what I did go under the car and jump the solenoid unless you have a gen 1 then its on the fender under the hood . always a good place to start but getting codes is easy and a must in most situation's.

yeah... starter solenoid would be my first place to look.... cheaper than a starter!
First gens.... right by the drivers side fender, near the airbox.

Get under the car and find the starter, it's right beneath the oil filter. Depending on the year of the car the trigger wire from the ignition may have come loose as it's a clip on spade terminal type on the later years. That or the ignition switch is shot...is it loose in the column?

don't just go out and buy a starter without checking the simple and cheap parts first

was the car previously cranking slowls? or has it always cranked fast and now it doesn't even turn over. do the lights get real dim when you try and start it then brighted up when it is released? mine took almost 3 years to go out, over the years it would crank slower and slower and then one day it turned over the engine t times and finaly went to the parts store in the sky.

I think about $150~ acdelco makes a good one I think, see if anyone makes them with a lifetime warranty. just call autozone and napa ect but CALL AROUND because price can vary between stores. oh and don't forget avaliablity also very important.
