They're about 25 lbs total, right (I have them too)? That's like an equivalent of less than 5 gallons of gas. Can you tell a performacnce difference between full and 3/4 tank of gas?

If there under 50lbs total the most your gonna get slowed down is no more than a few thousands of a second in the 1/4mile. Now I believe I read somewhere that every 100lbs is about .1 on your ET.

wow 5 gallons of gas=25#'s.. never really thought of the comparison that way.. So i guess in essence putting them on is only good.. unless youre a ******** drag racer..which im not.. thanks for the input!! just have to find my welder now..

actually if your a ******** drag racer, you put on the SFC's to get more traction (which may lower your et) and then you remove the back seat.

Nooks SFC's are a little heavy as he uses pretty thick metal. My SFC's are 14 gauge and weigh less than 17 lbs total, and that is with capped ends. 17 lbs vs better traction and a more rigid structure, that decision is easy. My car runs 14.7's with the added weight of SFC's, Koni inserts and Eibach springs, F and R STB's.

Put the SFC's on. You will love them.

FPS (Doug Lewis) sells a version that is much lighter and comes with capped ends, also because of the design are much easier to change your fuel filter. My car weighs in a 3340 with the FPS SFC installed.

Interesting. How much fuel did your 89 have when you weighed it?

Making the chassis stiffer isn't easy to do without adding weight. Getting more material to strengthen it (adding weight) is the only way to really do it.

40 lbs (plus or minus) is pretty substantial to change. 40 lbs is hard to come by!

i'm using a 20# gell cell battery. Works much better than the OEM 45lb chunk of lead.

I had over a half a tank of gas and a few things in the trunk including golf clubs, 20 lb tool bag and of course the spare tire. The car weighed in at 3360, when I returned home I weight only the tool bag. The car is a 89 and has no sunroof, or key less entry, this is probable on of the lights factory SHO' made, since ABS and air bags weren't avalable yet. Once I get the Quaife in I'll makes some passes at the local Strip to see what kind of numbers this car can run.

Two weeks after purchasing the car bone stock I took it to a 1/8 mile night and made a pass with the hopeless cable shifter and ran a 10.11 to show its potential.

Power passenger seat or manual? That's 15 lbs right there.

The 96 brakes add about 23lbs over the stock 89 brakes, and the wheels/tires you have on it are heavier than the 15' lace rims (wicked light) but I'm sure the car will run some decent times.

I never weighed the dynomax against the OEM but I think it's lighter, the OEM tubing is a tad thicker I believe.

FWIW my 89 is the same (factory stripper) and was 3180 lb with an empty tank dead bonestock (brakes, wheels, etc).

Yeah scary paul huh? I've been planning to get the dynobat (13 lb) and moved to the trunk, but haven't had time yet.

The passenger seat is manual, could you e-mail me details and maybe photos on the type of nitrous system your using, I've used it on carb vehicles. I saw a simple 75-100 system from Nitrous Works that look like it was very adaptable to the SHO.
