I took a new SF bolt to a shop where I rented a sawzall. We found a blade that cut half through the thing in a matter of seconds. However, when I got back and tried to cut the bolt off the car, I managed to break and bend two of the same blade (Swiss made, metal cutting blades) attempting to cut the bolt. There is maybe 1/2 to 1 inch of the bolt showing between the frame and the subframe. The other side has even less clearance. I can barely get the sawzall in place.

Now what?!? I think the car is going to end up sitting for a week (I'm co-oping at school) and I will be back on the next weekend. I need to get the FW off so it can be resurfaced before Sunday.

There MIGHT be a propane torch in the basement... if it wasn't taken when a bunch of stuff was moved from our house. Will that help me in any way?

You need an Oxygen and Acetaline torch. The propane will not cut it. You have to be cocking the blade on the sawzall for it to keep breaking. If you cant get the right angle with the sawzall and have no access to a torch. The only other thing I can think of small enough to work would be a metal cut off wheel on the end of a dremmel.

4 larger sawzall blades later, and a little help from Mr. Prybar and the bolt is broken and off of the car! :) :) :) Now I've got one to go, and then the rest of the tranny removal.... then take the FW to NAPA, get it resurfaced, reinstall it, and wait til next week when the RBs end up arriving!
