secondary air injection malfunction...seen this before i bet...

so i did a search and found a buncha things but no one has had the problem im having, after the car warms up if i sit at a light in D the rpms drop and jump in rythm, its not random but just about every second the rpms surge to 1K down to about 600 rpm and back and fourth. when its in park it idles at like 1300-1500 rpms. would this be the relay? or another problem?

If the SAI is cycling it is being told to do so. What makes you think the SAI is doing this?

im getting a check engine light that says secondary air injection system malfunction...

i just put the intake manifold all back together, could it be an air leak or vacuum leak? or most likely would it be that relay? i was checking for vacuum hoses disconnected and they are all snug...

Common code, Paul will chime, but I don't think that's the SAI doing that. It's a near-not-needed system for smoother cold starts.

ya, its just getting me mad because i have to go in for emissions testing and i don't think it will pass with that code...

Most places won't even inspect if the CEL is on.

Electric AIR Pump fault.
Hose from Electric AIR Pump blocked.
Hose from Electric AIR Pump leak.
AIR Bypass Solenoid stuck open/closed.
AIR Bypass Solenoid leak/blocked.

I'd make sure the vacuum line and electrical connectors are good at the solenoid and vacuum regulator.
