I just got my car legal and have finely been able to see how it runs, I know it needs plugs and wires but I think the secondaires are not working right. Whether I excelarate normal or hard the car will buck/****, and while it does this the RPM niether falls or increases, and then you can hear/feel the secondaires kick in. What could cause this

Secondaries are vacuum operated so there could be a vacuum leak, if you dont know how to look for a v leak google it. Pull a plug wire on the front bank and see if you've got oil in the plug wells, very common problem with the yamaha v6 if it hasnt been properly maintained.

Have someone start the car for you while you watch the secondaries. The butterflies should close when started. One way I found vacuum leaks is to spray starter fluid where the leak is suspected. If you have the leak the RPM should rise when the engine sucks in the starter fluid. I agree with the others that most likely cause is the bad valve cover gaskets causing the oil leak, and the spark plug wires that went bad from being in the oil.

The bucking/jerking under moderate to hard acceleration is a symptom of any number of issues including: bad tps, bad plug wires, oil in plug wells, bad dis, bad coil pack (in that order, in my experience.)

The secondaries should open around 4000 rpm regardless of load on the engine. If this is not happening, the most likely cause is a bad secondary controller or a vacuum leak near the secondary controller, in my experience.

If the engine is not running right, you will really notice when the secondaries open, so you may not have a problem with the secondaries, just with the fuel/ignition system.
