Seafoam

This stuff is grade A awesomeness!
I ran it through my intake and fuel system, boy does it make a difference.
I've heard from many people to try it out, and it sure as **** does the job.

I don't know about putting it in my oil, I'm afraid that what ever gunk that built up in my crankcase is actually holding my engine together.

Still have to let it run completely through the fuel system, but I'm going to be traveling 60+miles tonight so it will get a good cleaning tonight.


Anyone else use Seafoam? Opinions?

ive used it many times...i used it in my explorer and it worked amazing. very big difference afterwards. my father runs a shop down in queens and i told him about it...he had a truck there that ran absolutely horrible and nothing was working, he tried this and it did the trick.

+1. Seafoam is the *******. I pour a can in my tank every few fillups and it keeps it running tip-top.

As far as the motor oil goes, transmission fluid actually does an amazing job of cleaning out your oil system if you pour a quart in a few hundred miles in before an oil change.

did you run it through the vacuum hose?... I ran about a 1/4 can through and noticed no difference, but i suppose that is because I didnt put enough through

If you run it through the vacuum hose at the top of the TB, it will not work(learned the hard way)...just make your engine run like shit for 5 minutes.

The trick is to run it through the brake booster vacuum hose. You get immediate results (lots of smoking...which is good). Have it suck up enough to stall the engine and let it sit for a few minutes, then start it back up, run for a bit while giving a steady stream of seafoam to the brake booster line.

Where is it sold at, and how much??? Sounds like good stuff!

Autozone, Pepboys, NAPA, etc. Any autoparts store should have it. I got it for $7 (plus tax) at Pepboys. I bought another can that same day just because I loved the results.

Also, make sure you put some in your gas tank before you fill up. If you have a little less than half a tank, pour 1/3 into your tank and go get $10 of gas. Much better throttle response, smoother idle, and over all it drives smoother.

More like the engine just can't ignite the fuel with something else in there.

I just did an oil change today after running Seafoam for a few miles in my crank case...I'm even more impressed. Throttle response is better than it has ever been. It feels like it has a lot more power now, and no it isn't all in my head.

Just a reminder, don't run your SHO for more than a few miles after using Seafoam in your oil. The oil thins out and thus makes it useless (the results are equal to running with water lol). Change oil immediately, and see the difference. Also for engines with a lot of miles, like mine, you might free up some gunk that has been sealing something up, so don't do the oil change unless you really want to risk it. I did and I'm happy with the results

I got a pure black liquid, not even oil, it was too thin to be oil.

But no leaks sprung up, and the bearings are liking the new oil.

Seafoam recommends only driving around for about 10 miles, basically driving home from work, or coming back from getting groceries

You put seafoam in your engine before an oil change...not after, otherwise you would be wasting a perfectly good engine and oil. Don't dump the whole can either, just 1/3 of it.
1/3 for your gas
1/3 for your intake
1/3 for crank case
Well, use as much as you want really, but that is their recommendation. I used a whole can on the intake, 1/2 on fuel, and 1/2 on oil.

Won't you only clean the back bank of clyinders that way? That vacuum line runs to the back of the intake...

I would think so, but the vacuum line at the top of the TB don't work too well. I guess I can try it again with a different line.

Perhaps the PCV inlet hose? It's kind of a pain to take off, but there should be plenty of vacuum there... (the one at the bottom, not the one that goes to the valve cover)

When i did it I used that hose on top of the intake and it worked fine. I followed with some water to get some steam cleaning action.
