I got the 13979 thermostat from rockauto.com that was on the parts list. Is this the one you used, if so the one they sent me doesn't have a giggle valve. Is it necessary or do you reccomend that I get another one.

I recommend the use of the Motorcraft thermostat because of its superior construction. The rubber seating surface provides a tighter seal to allow the engine to warm up faster and even get warm at all in the winter. The jiggle valves allow the cooling system to be refilled much quicker than without them. Even though it costs a bit more than the Stant and Robert Shaw brands, I think it is a better product and worth the extra expense.

Also I think ransom found with his high speed running on his forced induction car, the OEM stat was the only one to provide the proper flow. Maybe he'll chime in with his experience.

FWIW I don't even mess with the aftermarket stuff when it comes to SHO t-stats. That's one of those OEM only parts...
