It just so happens the one time I forget to lock my doors, my car yells out to thieves, "Come take all the shit I have!"

They ended up with my toll cash (around 40 bucks) cheap sunglasses, 2 folding chairs out of my trunk, and my SCT tuning device...

Do I just not replace the SCT? I have installed the GH AO tune, and don't see needing it unless I bite the bullet and order some PPE downpipes and revised tune for them... Insurance deductible is $500 bucks, so it's a wash that way.

That is really crappy. I would call SCT and see what would need to be done if you were to get a new device. I dont have a solid answer.

First of all, sorry to hear that -- it sucks, second... since it's married to your vehicle shouldn't they know if someone tries to get it unmarried and catch them SCT handed? Like SM105K says, it might be worth a call to SCT, just to find out.

Last, I don't believe you need a tune update for the DP's, so you should have some time to think about it. Maybe save for the LiveWire TS+ or check for used?

Definitely contact SCT to report the serial # stolen. It's worthless to anyone without being unlocked by SCT (it is married), and they'd have to unlock it by calling SCT. I think. Unless there's some backyard hack to crack it, which is very possible, but still, probably not in some opportunistic f-face's repertoire to even bother. It's probably in a ditch somewhere already. But in the off chance it shows up somewhere, SCT might actually give a crap.

The only thing I can ask is - did you save the stock tune somewhere? I've recently had an HP tuner, and I was able to copy the stock tune off the SD card as a backup. Not sure what SCT is doing these days in that respect.

I second that, but for a different reason. I'm pretty sure the device is locked to the car, but not the other way around. The theif essentially has a really expensive code reader at this point. In order to use the tuner on another vehicle, it would have to be unlocked.... by SCT. So I'd recommend calling them and seeing if they have some type of blacklist (like for cell phones). Maybe, just maybe you could get it back that way by verifying ownership with a purchase receipt and police report.

If you were to purchase a new tuner, I don't think you'd have any issues syncing it to your car, assuming it wasn't previously used to tune another car.

Yep. Check with Unleashed. I got my TS+ from them pretty cheap, used and unlocked.

Sucks to hear.....

Yet another reason for some segments of society to stop all this nonsense about "Defunding The Police".

I do believe I saved the stock tune file on my laptop, so at least I have that. I'll see what SCT says when I get around to calling them.

Well if anything, especially during these unprecedented times (how sick are you of hearing that phrase...) I guess the message is, lock your doors!

Could be a sign to dump SCT
At least that's my positive way to look at it. HPTuners doesn't scream steal me like SCT does. In addition to being able to borrow one to flash whenever you need. I think several places even rent them.

As for defunding the police, no...but hold them to a higher standard when they break the law. The ******* immunity is ridiculous. If you want to be a cop, be a role model for your community. That being said, the reform needs to come from within and i don't know how that would even begin. In the end everyone is human and if you want to see evil, nothing is more capable than humans.

Report it to SCT, it can't hurt. If your car draws attention, lock your doors. If you've seen as many cars as I have that had the windows shot, you'll also find that a quality window tint also serves as a deterrent to smash and grab jackasses. All you can do is try, even if you never get it back, hopefully SCT can keep them from being able to use it.

Agreed, with a brother that spent the better part of 40 years as a LEO, nobody hates a bad cop more than a good one. It's a department by department thing. You can weed out new hires at interview, blacklist the ones that fall through the cracks, but ultimately it's up to the good coppers to step up when it's needed. As a general statement, stupid seems to be thriving in our country these days.

After chatting with SCT support, I was told that there is nothing they can do, and that they do not keep any type of database for stolen serial numbers.

I think you only "need" to revise the tune if you go with catless, I ran my catted DP's for a couple days before I got a revision, didn't seem to hurt anything.

you don't NEED to revise, but it does make a difference if you do.

man that really does suck to hear. sounds like kids if that's all they took, probably thought it was an antique cell phone haha. Unfortunately once they realize what it is they'll probably throw it in the trash.

Sucks to hear! Jokes on them because they can't use it anyway without either paying to unlock it or they sell it cheap. In which case, keep an eye on FB Markplace and Craigslist to see if a cheap one in your area shows up and if there's mention that it was used on a Ford.
