Today, I was planning on cleaning out my cold air intake filter, and I noticed my hot side PCV valve was making a vibrating noise. It was an easy swap for a new valve and hose, and I installed (what I thought) was a now clean and oiled filter. This is my first time attempting to clean a filter, and I was worried I may have gone overboard oiling it, I use a K&N recharge kit with the cleaner and oiler.
After taking it out, I noticed it was a little hesitant, and after a WOT pull, I had a CEL flash for a bit and go away. Scanning it showed it was a Cylinder 4 misfire.
My best guesses are...
- I overoiled the filter (note, i did wipe it down to reduce the oil levels as I had a fear of over oiling afterward, and it wasn't at dripping level). Curious to know your thoughts on the amount to use
- The tune was recorrecting to the new PCV as there may have been an exhaust league prior
- Ford gave me the wrong valve (KR3Z-6A666-A) or hose (FB5Z-6A664-A)
I'm mid diagnosing another issue, and this misfire reset my OAR and put me in a pretty bad mood, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!
