Well lately every once in a while I been getting a screeching noise from my clutch, like when I down shift it does it for a split second, but only seemed when I went into second gear. But now it has happened twice going into 4th and it pretty loud, like a pulsing screech, I never tried hitting the gas while it's making the noise, I always depress the clutch then shift down and it seems fine. Any guesses?

just put on one new belt, and it isn't a constant or a noise that a belt would make. Plus kinda can feel it in te clutch pedal like a pulsing.

First thing is to check the level of fluid in your transmission. Once verified as full move onto other things.

Just went to do that this morning, think I found the problem... Fill plug was gone, I can't make any sense of it. 2 weeks ago I went on vacation, checked all the car fluids, including tranny and topped anything off and I remember tightening down the fill plug so it was almost flush with the outside tranny casing. I don't see how it could have possibly shaken out.

Anyways I have only been noticing the problem the last few days so I can only assume it didn't fall out on my 1500 mile vacation trip and must have just recently. So I went picked up a new plug and some new fluid tossed it in. Even when it was making the noise tranny shifted smooth. Well I've only taken it for a test after new plug and fluid and it seemed better. Granny'd it about 5miles to see how it was then ran it good through 1st and 2nd after I thought it felt solid then tested it on the downshift when coming into my driveway and all seems good /sigh Hopefully I won't be reposting after this about it again.

Im having almost the same issue...i can feel it, but i cant hear any squeeling....it happens if im not driving like a granny.. seriously 3rd gear @ 30 type speeds......in between shifts its a slight grind/or pulsating feel from the clutch pedal......just got this car so i thought this was just a "funny" clutch.....

any ideas?

P.S....how do i check the tranny fluid on a 92 SHO...probably something easy...just cant find it....

Thanks

The fill line is the plug on the front of the casing just to the driver side of the starter. It takes a 3/8 ratchet end to unscrew. Put your finger in the hole then angle the tip of your finger down slightly and if you feel tranny fluid you should be fine. But if your very "****" and need to have it at the line top it off till some drips out, make sure to be on a level surface.
