Oh boy, Im on the verge of spitting fire right now.... :madflame: as well as crying my eyes out...

Just this evening, without warning it happened. What happened? I have yet to figure out. But if my 20k clutch just gave up the ghost, Im going to have a fit.

My fiance and I went to get groceries this evening. Coming home, as I turned down my street shifting gets incredibly difficult. No grinding, I just cannot get into gears easily. I pull over as I get to my house (have to pull a U-turn to park it in front of my house) I CANNOT get it into 1st gear. It went from totally normal to this in a matter of 200 yards.

Clutch feels normal. When the car is off, the shifter shifts normal.
When the car is running, with the clutch depressed, as you try to get into gear I get a nasty whirling noise from the clutch. The clutch auto-adjust mechanism seems to be working fine. I have just about 1.5 inches of free play in the pedal and when depressing it is feels like normal. I checked trans. fluid, correct level and clean. Shift linkage is secure.

WHAT IS GOING ON HERE???

Any help? What could it be BESIDES the clutch?

:help:

thats what mine looked like... and was doing the same things you described... you should be able to get it in to gear... but it will put some strain on the trans...

no way

Reinforced from SHOnut more than likely. I need to have this done by the end of the week.

There will be some late night outside under the car this week....
Im sure the neighbors will love hearning my compressor and air tools running, and seeing my 500watt spot lights on into the wee hours of the night

i did mine in 4 hrs.... roughly.... if you count breaks, and the wait for a friend to help with tranny, it was more like 7-8 hrs :bonk:
but all i did was drop the drivers side, and slide the trans out enough, and boy, was there barely enough room... but it beat dropping the subframe.... :thumb:
if you need any help, or have questions, im all ears bro!

Ive been in there before. I know the drill. Thanks though.

Its knowing what a PITA it is thats ******* me off. That, and Im out of a car for now. My fiance needs the truck for getting to work.

I just ordered a SHOnut HD PP, Teflon Impregnated TOB release shaft bushings, a fresh Ceramic TOB (just in case), and a new clutch fork because this one has 4-5 clutches on it already. To the tune of a lovely $350 or so. Guess I cant eat for the rest of the month.... j/k :p

Thanks for telling me what I already knew, but needed to hear. :thumb:

I thought I was the only one who ever did this. Although my springs (the same ones that are out on yours) completely popped out and were rattling around inside the bell housing. As to the cause I would have to say a super harsh downshift or a faulty clutch. Being only 20k on it I would say faulty clutch. Mine had about 75k when it did it. I wasn't even driving when it broke Tireman broke mine when they were "test driving it" to see if they could do an alignment. I was quite ****** for awhile on that one.

So it HAS happened to somebody else :frown:

Honestly, it has felt a touch "weird" during engagement since installation. But I had only had the car for 5k miles, so I figured it was normal. I guess not!

I hate this new BS stock clutch crap. This unit was stamped "made in china" right next to the Valeo stamp. :squint:

It chewed up the PP pretty bad from the backside. The backside of the fingers have a nice ring ground into them. Another item for the scrap pile.

At least the ceramic TOB survived...

Just took a look at a NEW valeo I have here and there is no "made in china" anywhere on it.
