Rust on passenger's door latch

Anybody has developed rust on their door latches? Mine is a 2010, paint is flaking, cracking and is starting to rust. Driver's side is ok, as a 2010 car should be!!!

I noticed little rust spots also on that same door's hinges. Mine is white so it really stands out. Anybody?

It's hard to tell from the small picture (even when "enlarged") but it appears the rust is more likely due to a chip rather than a problem with the latch. Maybe at one point someone closed something in that door, such as a seat belt, which chipped the paint there. Exposed steel + weather = rust. It appears the area where the door latch regularly rubs is not showing rust, which is what I would expect.
