I have a 98 SHO and this doesn't happen all the time, but once in awhile, when I put the car in park, the RPM will slowly climb up to about 2k. Then, if you tap the gas it will go up more and not come back down, until you hit the rev limiter, where it will slowly back down to about 2k. This only happens in Park or Neutral. If I have it in drive, the car doesn't seem to drive itself or anything. Every once in awhile it will go up to 20MPH or so without pushing the gas.
So whats wrong?

I had the exact same problem (does it usually happen after drives of, say, 50+ miles?) and the TPS kit fixed it. Well, that and my mechanic found that the last person who already installed the TPS kit did a hack job and messed up the wires (they were tighter than a guitar string and the insulation was stripped in multiple spots).
