So, over about a week period the starter seemed like it was getting slower and slower and sound like it was having a hard time turning the engine over. There is one click every time you try to start it, and after about 5 times the click will go away. The lights DO NOT dim when I'm trying to start it. All electronics work fine.

My guess is the solenoid at this point since, I'm guessing at this, that is where the clicking sound usually comes from when the starter goes bad.

Is it possible to replace it without removing the starter? If not it seems pretty easy either way from all the posts I have read.

i had what sounds like the same problem with my truck.. turned out to be a dead cell in the battery...it had jsut barely enough power to get the truck running but once it was started the alt took over and everythinng worked perfect..
