Hey all! I bought my 1994 sho about 4 months ago and the alarm does not work. The keypad works. Someone told me to take it to a Ford dealer and they can do it. The ford dealer wants to charge me Fifty dollars to do it! Is there any way I can do it myself? If so can you give me some direction?

Alarm? What alarm??? Arrrrgh I wish I had an owners manual for my car!!!
Its not a real alarm. Its a remote keyless enty system that will allow you to lock/unlock doors, pop your trunk, and a panic button.

The only way to check if your car is equipted with a real factory alarm is to do this.

1. roll down the drivers side window all the way.

2. with the remote, lock the doors.

3. wait a good 10 min. to make shur it arms the system. (ussually it takes .30-3 min for this to happen)

4. check dash for bliking "THEFT" light

5. after 10 min has gone by ..... open the door from the inside via through the window

If the horn starts going off you have a factory equipt alarm from Ford that is rare. So rare that I tried looking for the module at dealerships and no one can help me. There is a add on box to the keyless box that is located in the trunk. This module from what i heard is located under the dash.

I know that Code Alarm has a fatory add on alarm system where you get to keep your fatory remotes.

If anybody has any questions .... feel free to ask.

I have a factory alarm in my 93 SHO. The remote is a Code Alarm one with 2 buttons - Arm and Disarm. I'm pretty sure this is factory, but it could have been added by one of the first 2 owners. I'm the 4th owner, and the guy I bought it from didn't think the alarm worked. The alarm works really well, any voltage draw sets it off (pulling on the door handle from the outside, trunk light, etc.) And it also locks/unlocks all the doors. There's no way to pop my trunk with this remote, which I don't like, but I can live with it.

The alarm you have is aftermarket. But there is a add-on system that Code Alarm offers (PRO-F30). The alarm works off of your remote keyless system. You still get to obtain your factory remotes and have all the options of a regular car alarm. I will be installing one of these in my car with in the next month or two.
