I am looking at picking up a 95 atx (cheap)...but it needs a heater core. What kind of project am I looking at getting into? How long? How Hard? What kind of cost am I looking at? I assume the dash has to come out, right?!?!

IMHO that's one of the worst jobs on a SHO. The heater core was the first thing to come down the conveyor belt on the Taurus assembly line and the car was built around it.

It's doable, but it's a crappy job. Use that as leverage to negotiate the price.

If you're mechanicly inclined , its just long. Because of the dash. The core itself is pretty cheap , it's the job that scares people off. I think theres a how-to over here , do a little search.

I have taken the dash out of my brother's fox body to replace that heater core. Easier than harder than that? Anything else to look for if I do it?

There is a write up in the "how to" section on the forum.
It helps a lot.

 I find it alot easier than anything else to do. I can do them in about 2.5 hours. If you're a novice, maybe a day in and out. You do have to evac & recharge the AC though. Oh, replace the BDA while you're there.

I just did the heater core in my 95 ATX. If you like A/C I would do the A/C evaporator too while the dash is out. It wasn't too hard but time consuming. The hardest part was getting at all the bolts in the engine compartment firewall. The dash doesn't have to come completely out just enough to get the evaporator housing out.
