Replacing side mirror

What's involved in replacing just the mirror? Some stupid kids egged my car a while back and I need to get a new mirror for the driver's side. I don't really want to replace the whole unit, just the mirror that is cracked. Has anyone done this? I did a seach and came up with nothing. shrug

I replaced mine by just pulling it off. I did have another mirror, but you should be able to just pop the unit out, put the new mirror back in, then reinstall. Hopefully it's the same for gen 1 and gen 2 SHO's thumb

Just push the outer edge of the mirror glass into the outside of the housing. Next put your fingers behind the mirror and grasping the inner edge pull the glass until it snaps out of the motor assembly. Either have the mirror glass replaced or you could order just the glass with the black plastic housing. To reinstall just line up the middle and two other cross tee pivots and push into place with your palm till it snaps in. Not really hard at all.

so if i order a new mirror off of rockauto.com it should come with the bracket on the back of the mirror? i just want to be sure of a few things before i spend the money on it.

I can't answer that for sure, but from the rockauto prices, about $10., and their instructions it looks like you're getting the mirror glass only. But that's ok. All you have to do is take all of the old mirror glass off the black plastic bracket and glue the new one on. You could try a local parts store but they probably won't have an exact oem fit. But you could get one locally from an auto glass shop. I had a spare mirror so I used that glass.
