Title says it. I got "new" side view mirrors for my 1993. How do I remove/replace the glass lens, and how do I remove the internals, like motor and such?

Depends on what new mirror means. glass only, glass with backing plate, or whole assembly. I remember a replacement with 2 or 3 swivel looking pieces. It's been a long time

Unfortunately the pictures I had in this post I made on another forum were on Photobucket which has now deleted my account due to lack of use, but maybe the text will be sufficient. The instructions are for a Lincoln MKT but I suspect are quite similar for the Taurus. Fortunately I never had the need to try this on my Taurus or MKS.

I likely still have the photos saved on my computer so if you have a question on a specific step or two I can probably find the accompanying photo.

Per SHOrod, follow his instructions if you are replacing the entire mirror. If, however, you are replacing the glass only, no need to remove the mirror. The glass itself can be levered out and will snap back in. That works if the new mirror comes complete with its backing. If it's glass only and has to be transferred to the old backing, don't know how to do that.

I picked up painted side mirrors from a 1995 sable to put on my 1993 taurus. I want to pull the innards out to thoroughly clean them and touch up the paint before installing them. How do i get the guts out?
