Replaced 3 spark plugs

so as the title says I replaced 3 spark plugs because the other 3 were either cross threaded or heat synced car has 60k miles on it and I just wanted to replace them what should I do.

Maybe. How long do you plan on keeping it? Are they in the back? and how old/how many miles on them? Boosted cars should probably decrease the change intervals for these parts.

Daily driver? They won't get any less stuck, so you have to make the call when you want to go after them.

I would try soaking them in a bit of PBlaster or similar product for a few hours/overnight. Or lightly warm up the engine (no need to go above 100F) if it is cold, to get them out easier.

So like a 5 second start?... Maybe even 1 second

Like 5 minuets or so ish. Your trying to get the aluminum warm to expand some to pull away from the steel body plugs and make it easier to remove the plugs. Maybe until you start to get some heat on the heater core hoses?

Somewhat related, the 5.4 3V with the 2 piece I would go on a 5-6 mile hard drive to warm up the heads to make it a little easier to pull out the plugs.

Depends on what the cold ambient temp is as to how long it will take. Monitoring with Torque Pro or your tuning device is the best way. "Comfortably warm to the touch" is what you are aiming for. 100F should be enough.

My preference would be penetrating oil first tho. If you can move the plugs even an 1/8 of a turn, it will help the oil work better, still may take a few hours, so letting it sit overnight is easy peasy.

Yea you do want the head to be hotter then the spark plugs which is going to be hard so maybe adding water to the plug hole after then head is warm but then higher risk of adding debre into the cylinder

What I have learned from trying to remove the downpipe when it was hot it was way harder when both was hot then to do it when both was cold.

One world turn endlessly and the socket would just rattle and the other one was completely heat synced and would not budge an inch

Sounds more like captain strongarm replaced the plugs last. Had the same thing happen to 4 of the coil nuts recently. Marked that mechanic off my list. Hate letting anyone touch my car for that reason.

Are these on the same head or on different heads? I am not experienced in doing this, but I have heard of people using impact wrench to remove plugs that would not turn. Not sure if that is a great idea or not.

So an update took the car in to see what the warranty people would do since that’s how the car came to me and they don’t cover it so if I get the dealer to try and change the plugs it’s about 500 bucks if they can’t and the break one off or strip it then the whole head would be replaced. Don’t really have a couple grand to throw at getting a new head so really worried about having them try to get the plugs I’m probably going to just try and sell it then

That sucks. Better off getting it out before the thing stops running properly. Too bad you can't pull the head yourself and get an insert if needed.

They sell sockets for stripped out plugs. I'd try that first.

I wonder if the kit that fixes the spark plug holes in the Triton V8 would work.
