Front is ok.. many have done it, I wouldn't on the rear tho, can't even see it, plus its really close to your p/s lines. Too close for me.

It's a stupid thing to do.

The shields create a boundary layer of air to help wick heat from the manifold.

Removing the shield eliminates that effect and results in higher cylinder head temperatures.
