Removing the Altenator. How do you release belt tension

Hi i have a 92 SHO that i am trying to replace the Altenator ok How do you get the tension on the blet to relax? I see where the tensioner pulley is and I have use a 5mm allen head and tried both ways to release the tension of the belt with no success. I would greatly apreciate the Infor thank you

Loosen the nut first on the pulley.

then the allen bolt on top.
