Just like the title says. I removed the stock CD player from the reciever/CD player setup and pulled all three of those cables off of the back of the player. I put a DIN cover there and now there is no audio. The radio can barely be heard with it cranked. I plugged the CD player back in and it works just fine.

How can I overcome this when I get my cup holder/coin try that goes in there?

Check with Paul Protos in Abingdon, VA!

I just had my '91 SHO PLUS jbl Cassette/CD head units rebuilt by Paul Protos in Abingdon, VA. I'm not sure, but he may be able to make you up a plug
that will allow your system to work without the CD slave unit in place! His email address is [email protected]

It couldn't hurt to ask him if he can help.:)

There is a little clip in the back of the CD player that HAS to be transferred to the radio if the CD player is removed. Other wise, the signal does not get amplified...aka you got it cranked up and can barely hear it.

Take this clip out (I think its gray or black...no wires) and plug it into the back of the head unit. Its keyed, so it only goes in 1 spot. :thumb:

I dont see it, there is what looks like a grounding prong and a plastic piece that is just like on the reciever. The one that goes in the back and hooks on the trim piece. hmm

Its a clip thats plugged into the back of the CD player. It has a push in spot to remove it just like the power and signal connectors. It is about 1/4" square and about 1" long going into the player.

I dont see it at all. I took off the cover and looked inside and there was nothing. Sorry to be so thick headed but I gotta figure this out so I can use it with the cupholder.

Is there a part missing from my whole setup here? I have a 94 JBL cd setup that came stock that I am trying to remove the cd from.

There's a grey cable, pretty short, about 6-8", rectangular connector with 8 pins (actually holes). This is the cable that brings the audio signal into the CD player and back out. There are 4 pins that need to be shorted in order to have audio. I used paper clips when my CD player broke and I took it out. Make sure the paper clips are either coated or don't touch - crossed signals sound really bad. That would be the L AUDIO IN/L AUDIO OUT and R AUDIO IN/R AUDIO OUT pins. Makes sense when you think about it. Stand by for info on which pins they are.

From what I am understanding, I can bridge the two top rows of plugs on the end of the cable that runs from the Receiver to the CD player?

Edit: the "plug" is a terminator plug that was only installed on stereos capeable of having a cd player but not getting one as an option. mine has the cd player as a stock option so there is no terminator plug. From what I was told anyways.
