Yeah, I was afraid of that. It's not clear on Fords website. Not worth the time and parts to start car from inside a store. It can wait till I'm closer.
Thanks for the info!

Unfortunate for sure. My fob is so hit and miss, sometimes it works great from 200' away, other times I have to stand by the fender to do it. Sometimes it will honk back at me and then remote start when I open the door...

Next time you have a problem, take your cell phone and put it down somewhere like 20 feet away and try again. Also, depending on where you are, all sorts of things can interfere. Even your own fob echoing off other objects can cause two streams of radio waves to reach the car at slightly different times and cause interference.

You don't need boosters. Try this trick . . . put the fob against your head and hit the button!! For some reason your melon amplifies the signal :nut:

I doubted this back in the day, but lo and behold, it worked. Even better,....open your mouth and point the FOB into your mouth. It amplies the signal even more! From Google:

"Remote Car Key

Suppose your remote car door opener does not have the range to reach your car across the parking lot. Hold the metal key part of your key fob against your chin, then push the unlock button. The trick turns your head into an antenna, says Tim Pozar, a Silicon Valley radio engineer.

Mr. Pozar explains, “You are capacitively coupling the fob to your head. With all the fluids in your head it ends up being a nice conductor. Not a great one, but it works.” Using your head can extend the key’s wireless range by a few car lengths."

I just wish the remote start worked from the same distance as the locks do. countless times I've hit the lock button and watched the lights flash but had the car refuse to start from where I stood. Having to walk out halfway to your car in a snowstorm to start it kinda defeats the purpose of remote start.

I put the fob against the bottom of my double chin. Works every time.

Just put the fob at your temple, electric in us can be used as a booster. Worked for me for years lol
Maybe you can get compensated for it in the future like the mesothelioma commercial. Did you get keyfob cancer? You have the right to be compensated.
