I asked a question about this and everyone ignored it, go above and read my question, I am tired of being ignored, If I would have posted, I would have been told to search, so here it is, I searched, damn.

You did the right thing. Nothing wrong with resurrecting an old post that is directly related to the topic you are interested in. In fact, as you pointed out, that practice is highly encouraged around here.

You guys saw the date of the original post on this, right?

That's OK, as long as you don't hurt the radio reception. :D

Guys,

Millions and millions of Tauri and Sables have been getting oil dumped on their starters for 17 years. It doesn't hurt anything and it's not a safety issue. My $.02

A few months ago, my starter wouldn't. Tech said he wasn't surprised, it was soaked with oil. Since the car also had 120,000 on the factory starter, it's debatable exactly what caused the starter to die. Given the choice, I would prefer not to have used motor oil running on and into electric parts. Especially ones that, if they fail, can really ruin your day.

update

Just spoke with Jim at Jegs EXT. 530, man to have his job, I would never go home, well, just to get the mail and pay bills! lol He said the Perma Cool universal kit is the way to go, says will fit the SHO, and spoke to him about pressure drop, he said it will drop the pressure a little bit, the kit will do that, it is not going to matter if it is 3 foot or 4 foot of hose, and that between dual and single, it is really about the same! So that is what I am going to do, I actually may go through summit, they have a better price thanks shoisfast. Thanks to all who have helped, as the forum goes, I will be posting pics!

The install should be a piece of cake, however finding a suitable place to mount the new filter housing will be challenging. Does anyone have any areas already mapped out?

idk the way i see it put it anywhere where the filter will sit upright for minimal spillage. it doesnt necessarly have to be far from where it is now, but then again i havent really looked at a place to locate it i was hoping to see how n9rsk8r ended up with his.

Good info, I am also considering doing a remote filter at some point!

Just a suggestion, show your appreciation for Jeg's customer service rep by placing the order with them. Good advice is worth a couple bucks, IMO.

Now I am seriously considering this mod. I have a few questions/comments....

Now when mounting the filter how should it be oriented in order to reduce the mess? Should it be facing downward? I'm not sure...

Under our hoods there isn't a lot of real estate. We all know this, but we can probably do something about it. I was thinking of relocating my battery to the trunk in order to facilitate more room for mounting the new filter housing.

Again, this is just a brainstorm session...

The filter should point downwards. That way it doesn't drain empty when the engine is off.

For clarification...the housing that connects to the engine/relocation adapter should be facing downward?

The closed end of the filter should face the ground so the filter acts as a cup. I would imagine that the new location should be at or below the height of the stock filter location. If you felt the need, I suppose you could also plumb an additional oil cooler inline with the filter.

hmmm... It sure would be nice to have it right up top....my sisters bmw has it right up top and it sure makes life easier. Would having the filter positioned above the stock location cause any problems or does it have to be at about the same level?
