Reinstalling overhead console

This may not be fun....

This morning the moon roof switch pushed right up into the console. When I got to work, I started pulling at the edges of the console. looking for a release clip or something. What I found was it that I could pull the unit down. It seemed like it was held up with really sticky tape. THEN I read the proper way to remove it, in this forum ! Am I hosed ? I can see the 4 plastic posts have given way and that's why the switch came loose. How do I get the console to stay back up ?

I have two of these that broke. One the button pushed up. The other the metal clips broke off the console. I fixed both by getting som all purpose epoxy at the hardware store. You gotta clean up the surfaces first but tis pretty easy. I use nail polish remover to clean everything up first. Have a couple pair of vice-grips or small c-clamps to hold stuff together while they dry. Mine has held for a while now. If it breaks just repeat again.

How is the console supposed to be held up ? It looks like a longish metal clip somehow holds the edge furthest from the windshield. It seems to not be very well attached to anything.

There are a couple of screws holding it in place.
If you remove the light cover lenses, you can see straight up into the area.
I did the same thing you did. Accidentally pulled it off. I just used some really strong adhesive and glued the metal strip back onto the console piece. Been holding fine for 6 months.

I was thinking the same thing.There are two metal tabs that stick up on the side furthest from the windshield. What do those tabs lock into? I know the two screws hold the front part but the back I don't understand.
