Lol I don't know if it's fancy but I definitely won't have a fluid related failure.

One would hope. I am not as crazy as you my friend. However, you are pushing alot harder.

Can someone please tell me what happened when they got a PTU Fluid change at their mechanics? I do not work on my car much.... is the mechanic going to be smart enough to wrap the O2 sensors and Downpipes with aluminum foil while doing the job or should i tell him to myself ??

I would tell them about the aluminum foil honestly.

Hmmm I've changed the fluid twice myself, will be the 3rd time today. I have never wrapped anything. I don't even recall worrying about it or getting a bunch of oil everywhere. Sucking it out theres no mess. I use a hand pump and if anything I get the pump leaking slightly, when full there's a tiny bit of dribble. I even over filled the PTU on purpose to flush out all of my old Royal Purple 75w140 and even then I don't recall a horrible mess requiring much clean up.

What's the matter? Pushing too many pencils and that drain plug you speak of

Gather around.....for all the people that don't know about the PTU.

You have to use a Mighty Vac (or something similar) to evacuate the fluid in the PTU, all 10-12 SHO's do not have a PTU drain plug. Off the top of my head (IIRC)... non-PP 13+ cars do not have a drain plug either.

13+ PP SHO's have a drain plug that when removed dumps fluid all over the O2 sensor and DP's, hence why we wrap them in foil or make a cardboard channel to keep things clean.

Changed PTU and RDU fluid finally and collected samples for testing at Blackstone Laboratories. Using Redline Lightweight Shockproof gear oil and this sample has about 1,600 miles. Its been along for the ride for the new GH turbos, GH IC as well as a bunch of tune revision 3rd gear pulls, launched, dyno session, track runs, nitrous datalogging and track runs. And it just shifts and drives frickn lovely. Both samples looked.....clean. The PTU is the first one...its slightly darker than new fluid. The drain plug is pretty clean as I expected. The RDU fluid looks like I took a sample from the brand new bottle...its that clean. RDU drain plug is very clean. Huh...well I basically just took out new fluid but...at least I'll get a sample of some pretty harsh abuse and find out the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help me Easton! That you will my friend. I cannot take credit for the Redline suggestions however. Shodded was the one who gets the credit. I just tell others.

Gotta tell ya, I get a little nervous every time the recommendation is passed on to another member. Not that I have any doubts about the product, just that I want everything to go perfect for them LOL.

I will not suggest a product to the masses unless I have vetted it personally. Since I run my SHO exceptionally hard, if I have the confidence that product will/has held up I will suggest it. It just so happens that you have been on the money everytime with suggestions for me Shodded. I just pass the info along.

I was skeptical about how much better this fluid would be, but everything that has been said about this fluid is true. I have a brand new ptu that had brand new motorcrap gear oil. Drove it for less than a week, swapped it and it performs better. So much smoother in every aspect. The car literally rolls better, if that makes any sense.

Thank you all for the persistent suggestions around the forums.
