My Atx Sho has been idling rough and has lacked acceleration for about a month now. It shifts into second gear really hard also. I looked at it tonight and saw that the cat is red. What is the problem with it? Do I have to replace the cat?

Sounds like it could be plugged up, replacement is necessary. Also make sure to check for any rich conditions.

It's not a plugged cat (yet).

You have an excessive amount of fuel bing dumped into the cat where it is burning.

Commonly cause by misfires, leaky injectors, or anything else that causes the mixture to be too rich.

Check you plugwells for oil as this is a common occurrance.

How do you know when it is plugged? There is oil in the plug wells but I make sure to keep them drained. Could it be the O2 sensors? I'm gonna try and run the codes, would this give me the answer that I need to fix the problem?

Oil in the plugwells cause misfires.

Misfires cause red cats.

Can't get any plainer than that.

Fix the misfires (plugs, wires, gaskets). Anything else is a waste of effort at this point.

Once the recognized misfires are eliminated, then it would be appropriate to preceed elsewhere.
