I have had this car for almost 8 years, it ran when I first got it, but it was nothing but issues, timing belt, clutch, valve cover gaskets, crank position sensor, It hasn’t been driven since I blew the transmission about 6 years ago.
I have gotten it back up to the point where it starts, but it runs very shortly, under a minute, after and will occasionally backfire when it does.
It has gotten a lot of parts and time.

Right now it has only a few faults, as they read from an innova reader;
116 coolant temperature sensor outside test limits
114 air charge temperature outside test limits
565 canister purge circuit failure
Then it lists 10? Possibly moving to keep alive memory
157 mass air flow circuit below minimum voltage
Now it is a project car that I want to get back to the glory it had when it was new. Does anyone have any ideas what I might be missing?

That's alot of codes. Backfire sounds like out of time or, I guess if MAF is really off that can cause it. Too many codes at once usually indicates a timing via belt, relay, computer, or wiring problem. I would unplug the MAF and see if it starts. It will go into default and throw a MAF code but if that is the main culprit it should start unplugged. Also make sure the plugs and wires aren't fouled out from age and oil leaking into the spark plug tubes. Everything is suspect at this point. Do you happen to have a spare computer for this car?

Yeah. I have a spare pcm, and ccrm. Same issue on both of them.
Plugs are brand new, wires are older but don’t have much use on them. Last set was new but carboned to **** from it running rich. My mechanic said he had checked the timing twice when the timing belt was changed on rebuild. But I should probably check it myself.

You can probably ignore the 116 and 114. Those will pop up if the car isnt up to operating temperature when you check the codes. If its only running for less than a minute then thats what it sounds like.

I would focus on the MAF code. Try unplugging the MAF to see if it runs any better. If so you might try cleaning it.

If the plug wires are older they might be cracked and causing a misfire. Check them out really well for any dry rot. Also, double and triple check the plug wire routing. The manuals out there have the plug wire routing printed incorrect and i've seen several SHOs running bad because two of the wires were on the wrong cylinder. Cylinders 5 and 6 are reversed on the coil pack. The proper routing is as follows -

From standing at the front of the car looking at the engine

Engine
1 2 3
4 5 6

Coil pack
5 1
6 2
4 3
