hey guys,

when i press the unlock button, my doors all unlock except the rear left hand side door, and it also makes sound sort of sound, like a huming sound? Not too sure what kinda sound but its there. The door seems to lock fine. Also, when i press the unock button on the inside, it unlocks all the doors except that one, then i have to pull the little pin with my hand,Any ideas?

Your door lock acuator motor is burned out. Happened to me with my drivers door. It is a motor that is attached to the locking mechanism, it is what acually locks and unlocks your door. You need to buy a new acuator, Autozone sells them and follow the instructions in your Helms or Chiltons manual granted you have one of the two. Basically you must pull off the door panel drill out the rivet that holds the acuator in place (this rivet is in the door jam IIRC right underneath the childs lock switch) then unhook the acuator and pull it out. Then just put the new one in hook it up and find a rivet gun big enough to put that gigantic sized rivet back in the door, (I had to borrow one from the dealership-glad i'm friends with the parts guys) and put the panel back on and your golden. That is the basic jist of what needs to be done. Oh, the noise you hear is the acuator trying to move the door lock but it is not powerful enough anymore.

Hope that helped,
Doug

That MAY not be your problem. As I have just fixed the same problem in my door. Tear out your interior pannel. ( you will have to do this if your motor is burned out anyway) then rip off the right hand corner of the Dampering meteral that is glued on over the entire door. You will see the inner workings of the door thru an opening the size of a tissue box. reach in and feel around in the Mid right side of the door for that motor he is talking about. Mine had a rubbery sleave covering it. when you grab it try to lift it up and move it around. ( you should not be able to move it up and down and all around) If it moves more than a quarter inch or anything feels Very loose, then you have the same problem that i did. Look at bottom of the motor where the mounting hardware is. see if there is a bolt that is missing or broken. (mine was broken compleatly.) There is a hole that goes to the outside of the door where the bolt should be fasened. Find this because this is where you must remount the motor. Its on the mid right Down side of the door. now from here i decided to use the solve-all greatness of the ZIP TIE. O how i love them. anyway you will see two holes going horizantal thru the mounting bracket. i sutck the zip tie thru those and then thru the mounting hole that goes to the outside of the door. That was a little tricky but it only took about 5 min to get it right. Just make sure that the zip tie cant slip back thru the hole once you tighten it down. there are ways to keep it from doing that. I hope this keeps you form going out and wasting money like i thought i had too.

long thread i know ;)

The Rivet SHOtimer is talking about is the bolt that im talking about that goes to the outside of the door. Guess I sould have looked at the other good door on my car to see what the mounting hardware was. But ya its right under the child safty lock.

Exactlly. Look up OEM specs for the actuator and get out a DVOM and compare. Could be high resistance in the wire as well. Your actuator could be fine.

what do u mean rip it off? Just remove it, or actually rip it off so that i have to be getting a new one? I hope not because it wouldnt be worth doing that.

Thanks for the help,

its really not a big deal if it rips at the glue. all i did was take a bottle of super glue and put it back in place when i was done. like he said your just pulling back the corner.

**** i would go as far as to say you really dont even need that thing in there. It probably just helps keep out the drafts.
