I am the original owner of a 97 SHO with 165K miles. The car has been great, just normal maintinance, cams welded at 100K miles and the power steering pump was replaced at 150K miles. Last week I took it in for an oil change and they said my motor mounts were shot. Except for normal maintinance, Doug Lewis works on my car.
I didn't want to make the 50 mile trip to his shop with the bad mounts and the guys at this shop are former ford master mechanics and trust worthy. Today they tell me that they could not replace the passanger side rear mount because they could not get the part. They said it is different from the standard Taurus motor mount hardware and their parts suppliers could not provide the proper replacement.
Anyone ever run across this problem? Is there a different part number for the SHO? I checked a number of parts suppliers on the internet that listed the mount, but the local mechanics insisted it is not the correct part. I told them to give Doug a call, but in the interim, your thoughts are appreciated.
