Is there any significant difference between dropping the oil pan on a 3.2 vs. 3.0? I'm familiar with the tricks of the 3.0; looks like the engine is a little farther forward in the ATX. Does this cause any other problems? Also, does the pan have to be dropped to remove tranny/change rear main seal? Damn 50K SHO has a rear main leak; not much but enough to be annoying and leave drops on the carpet in my garage.

well I do know you do not have to drop the pan to do the rear main seal... once the tranny is outta the way it is pretty simple

While your there it would make it easier to change the oil pan seal as well only about $14 at AZ.

Well, I would change it if I did the work, but trust me, dropping an ATX isn't something that's going to happen in my garage. I have a pretty good trans shop; I am thinking about having them install a trans-go shift kit into the tranny, and the same time change the seal.

The man has carpeting in his garage, you don't think he does his own work, do you? I mean CARPETING in the GARAGE buddy, think about it!
