Hello all, I am back for yet another chapter in the rebuilt Detroit SHO saga. As some of you may know I have been documenting my journey through DIY’ing this car back to its former glory and so far have done brakes, fluids, wheels and tires, both turbos (front one twice) and the timing chains/water pump. And now we come to yesterday when I was enjoying my new alignment and the smooth engine with all new timing components and two new turbos when I noticed a surge in power in 2nd and then again in third. It almost felt like it wanted to bog down then recovered. A mile or so down the road, I get the CEL back on again. Took it to an auto parts shop, and I get P0430 permanent, and P0420 pending. After doing some research and feeling the temp difference between the turbo outlet and the post-cat exhaust, the turbo area is significantly warmer than the post cat exhaust after letting the car fully warm up I can touch the post cat exhaust on the rear bank. When I did the tear down on that bank I did see oily residue in the downpipe from the turbo failing. My question is, what’s the probability of a plugged CAT? Could the plugged rear and possibly front have contributed to my turbos failing due to back pressure on the seals? (My first front replacement only lasted 2 months before blowing the seals) and lastly (most important) does anyone have any downpipes they would be willing to sell? After all this $$$ on the timing and turbos I don’t have $1,200-$2,000 lying around to replace both cats. Any advice would be appreciated and I’m having the cats inspected by a mechanic next week to check if they are plugged and if not I’m probably just gonna go the route of MIL eliminators if those even work. I’ve heard they have from other forums.

I have factory downpipes, with the factory cats, off of/from my 2010. They have less than 2k miles on them.

I would think they would fit your MY and bolt right up, but I would defer to you to verify that.

If interested, LMK. I'll dig 'em and snap some pics.

I would imagine they'd be awkward to ship. They would be coming from 60451.

Unless you happen to have a reason to drive out to the Southwest burbs of Chicago at any point in time.

Could you check the part number so I can compare it to what I have found online? I am interested for sure and I’m in central Michigan so the drive wouldn’t be terrible if the shipping would be too expensive. But yes I am interested.

The internet says that AA5Z-5E212-D is the replacement for the 2010-2019 SHO. I have a AA5Z-5E212-C (production from March 2012-2015) and you have a AA5Z-5E212-A (Production date from 2009- March 2012.) Online says the -A and the -C are not compatible but yet the replacement fits both?? This is for the rear only btw. So I think it might work. Do you have the factory O2 sensors on there too?

Also how much would you charge? I know these aren’t cheap parts but I’m trying my best to get this car to just be reliable and I could use a break.. I seen the rear cat for sale on eBay for $200 off a 2016, so would $400ish for the pair seem fair? If not let me know and I’ll try and work something out. I get paid next Thursday anyways so no rush.

Yes, that's odd about the replacement fitting all years.

Anyhow, I dug them out.....

The factory DP's don't have the sensors.

But I placed them into my catless DP's (2nd pic with sensors attached to pipes).

Knowing how fickle the Wideband O2 Sensors are, I'd highly recommend flipping for a new pair.

But I can try and get them off the catless one's if you're really wanting them.Bcc6e94bcd2dbb2725d481fd5c40dedb259db33ae03df7eec266db422164a294

Yours are probably in better shape than mine anyways to be honest with you, so if you’d include the sensors too I’d take them for sure. Just let me know a price

I'll see if I can remove the sensors. Little more difficult holding the pipe in place, in order to do so.

I'll keep you posted.

Thanks so much for jumping on this quickly. I appreciate having people on here have my back when I need it.

I have seen people buying the cheap aftermarket cats off eBay and some say they work some say they fail prematurely. Thoughts? They’re $160 for the pair so seems too good to be true.

No personal experience, just common sense. There's a reason you don't buy cheap coils, injectors, etc on eBay. It's all junk.
I haven’t put any eBay parts on the car yet and I’m just trying to not have to take a loan to buy even more parts for this wallet gouger we call the SHO
