I am a new owner of a 1993 MTX and I replaced the rear caliper and today when i tried to bleed it no fluid came out!! I have done this to a 93 atx without any difficulties but now I cant seem to get the fluid flowing to the right rear. I was wondering if maybe i bled the left side first then fluid would make it to the right side? Any help would be appreciated

If the rear suspension is extended the valve attached to the suspension will restrict brake fluid flow to the calipers. The other cause is the flexible brake hose is bad.

I just changed my rear hose due on my 1994 MTX to brake dragging. Very commen problem...I'd do it automatically if I was changing a caliper, the price was only $15. And yes, you need the car on the ground to get much fluid out of the bleeder valve.

Well the hose wasnt bad when I swapped calipers but for 15 bucks ill geve it a shot I guess. Ill try putting a jack under the strut and see if that fixes my problem first, but i did this before and never had a problem doing while the car was suspended.

The left rear suspension cannot hang. It must be at normal ride height otherwise the proportioning valve will cut off almost all flow to BOTH rear brake calipers.

I usually set a jackstand under the arms and lower the car to fully load the suspension. You can do the same by jacking the LR knuckle up if the rear is already on stands.

The hoses look fine from outside, (no cracks, etc) but trust me they collapse internally and block off the flow. I blew in one end of the old hose and got no air flow at all. Never seen a car so prone to this problem.

It was the hoses, I just thought it was weird that they both failed at the same time. Now I wont have to scrape around under my car to replace all the rear brakelines; thanks for the help. :thumb:

I would like to know where you found rear brake hoses for $15?? I cant even find them locally, and online they are $25 each.
