From where are you getting your code definitions? Your definition is similar, but the book sez:

DTC411 indicates that during Engine Running Self Test, the engine RPM could not be controlled within the Self Test lower limit band.​

It then lists a bunch of possible causes and things to investigate.

The 542 (yes, I realize it didn't show up this time) says the computer is having a hard time controlling fuel delivery to the engine.

The parachute effect is the computer rehearsing for an appearance in a James Bond movie. :laugh_ti:

The current service part number for your CCRM is F6DZ-12B577-BA, none exist at any dealers and I can't find any from any NOS parts vendors.

You can go aftermarket, but a typical response from parts stores is:

That's a special order, wait ~1 week for delivery, part is not guaranteed, no refunds or exchanges, and it'll cost ~$200 + shipping.​

There used to be a place in Texas that rebuilds 'em but I guess they've stopped offering that service, they say some of the relays inside of 'em are too hard to find anymore (they tried but failed to fix my M variant, and even didn't send me the old one back so I could use it as a core... fine, phuque 'em).

You can look on eBay, there are craploads of 'em out there but you'll need to look closely and see if you can find any of the D variants.

I found 7 (+ 1 unknown substitute) of your original CCRM with the Engineering ID you gave (F3DF-12B577-AA, don't confuse this with a Ford service part number, although the aftermarket tends to refer to it as a part number) but they're all in the US, and ya have to call/e-mail for pricing. Let me know if you want this information, I'll e-mail it to ya.

What I did is purchase two used ones from SHOSource (those guys rock!) they sell 'em by the big-letter codes rather than the identification numbers. They test them before sale, too, that's an important consideration.

When I was looking in the JY for my own CCRM needs last summer (and when I was still naively thinking all 92-95s were the same) I came across a wrecked 1994 SHO, and in the trunk I found this:

This is an aftermarket (looks to be a Standard Motor Products variant) I took it because it has some ballpoint-pen writing on it:

9/27/2011 (year is hard to discern at this point, could be something else)

That's all I know about it - well, I also know it's not the right one for my 1993. ;)

If you remove the oil you will find that its ruined the wires and may run worse, and if you don't fix the seals it will ruin the next set of wires.

^ all of the above is spot on. you need to do all of that.


also, please get in the habit of clearing the codes after you read them. that way you know if the problem still exists due to the problem really being there, not just that the code is still present 'cause it never got reset.

I found out that the previous owner has been chasing the oil in the plug well issue for some time and thought that new wires would seal everything up. He was wrong.

I think I am doing my 3.2 swap sooner than I thought. At least I know where that engine has been.

Update!!

I completed my 3.2 swap and I still get the 542 code. I am wondering how I would go about fixing this.
A) Replace CCRM?
B) Replace Fuel Pump.

If the answer is B, are all Gen 2 fuel pumps the same? I have a known good one in my wrecked ATX.

All Gen II pumps are basically the same. Does it run? Does it start? If not does, the fuel pump prime when the key is turned?
