Because he said that the car had been sitting for four hours before he started it and saw needle spike. If it had already been warm, then you're right, the thermostat would be a likely culprit.

Wait... the thermostat controls the engine coolant return. The sensor is after the thermostat, not before it. Why would the temp increase suddenly and/or after sitting for four hours? That piece is aluminum and wouldn't keep the heat like the iron block, and shouldn't show a huge increase until the thermostat opened, at least in theory.

Well I didn't know whether the sensor is before or after the thermostat. All I'm just saying is that for the needle to hit the red that quickly, after sitting for that long, it wouldn't be caused by the tstat, it would be a sensor issue.

Larger problem: F#&$in leak

Well I started it again after letting it sit outside for four days to bring it back into the garage to have my mechanic work on it, this time the temp sensor did not raise so quick.

Coolant was down from full to about 80% full so we looked for the leak

After looking at the car we found the slow coolant leak at what appears to be a bypass hose of some type located under the right side of the intake runners by the TB and to the left of MAF meter.

Anyone know which hose (and Ford part #) this might be

Guess I was lucky to not overheat!

We decided that we are just going to wait for my spare intake to be shipped back from shosource, then do the BBB's, Acid ported intake and replace the hose at the same time.

Seems to make the most sense, you all agree?

RE: Bulk Hose?

Sho source has my acid ported intake in the mail with the new couplers and I already have the BBB's so when we take off the old intake we are going to address this coolant leak at the bypass hose(s)? under the MAF meter, someone suggested using bulk hose to replace instead of going to get the hose from ford,

The car has been sitting for a couple of weeks, don't want to risk driving until corrected.

my mechanic said go with ford and he is not biased, so please let me know why to use Bulk hose and how this can be done, because the ford dealer parts folks are usually not knowing what parts I needs any one have a part number on these bypass hoses by chance?

:thankyou:
