I know that B&M makes rachet shifters. If you wanted to do some custom work on the shifter plate(cover) Im sure that it could be done.

Just joined, and I just aquired an B&M rachet shifter. Was thinking to do the same. Has it been done? Does it work?

I installed a B&M ratchet shifter in my '73 Charger 440 Rallye when I redid it back in 1997. The shifter was VERY stiff, and after a couple of years, became very sloppy. Then the neutral safety switch started getting flaky and it wouldn't start. My take is they work well when brand new installed, but when you use them on a regular basis, they get difficult to live with. It COULD have been the installation, and keep in mind, it was MEANT to go in as a replacement, so proceed at your own risk.
