With the exception of the fuel rail fuel lines, it sounds like everything is restricted to the engine harness, plug wires, and CPS - is that correct?

I'm not sure, but given the extent, number of vehicles, and that this occurred to vehicles in winter storage in your home, homeowners insurance may apply.

What year SHO? ATX or MTX?

Yes, damage is isolated in the middle of the motor, I've looked high and low for any more damage around the MAF and surrounding area and haven't found any, that's not to say there isn't anything there...

We are actually looking into the insurance route; If it's covered that would be great...

93 MTX.

guru, it actually does look like the lizard man got to my wiring harness :nut:

with the intake off the car, replacing the entire wiring harness isn't that much of a challenge.

Find a good, low mileage harness from the south. I can help you put it in. Would be a good time to clean up all the connectors and grounds.

EDIT: due to the unavailability of the wire harness new, I wouldn't doubt that the insurance company writes the car off.

My GTi has sat for a year in my garage. This thread has got me a bit scared!!

Yeah, maybe insurance is not the route to go if they're going to write it off...

Finding a new harness + plug wires + fuel line is going to be a bitch... I appreciate your offer of help, when/if I get all the parts I will give you a shout.
