has anyone figured out exactly what parts needed?

Does it change by year of car? I'm rebuilding again and looking for raptor crank,
balancer and any other parts needed to go along with it.

So, what is the difference between the 2 crankshafts? Is the 2015 SHO crank forged or cast? Raptor crank?? Is it worth the effort?

Looking back I may have already asked this but I'm about to grab the timing kit and water pump for my setup. Anyone recall if I am good with the regular 2013 model year timing kit I would normally buy or, is there something different I need due to using the raptor crank and gear with my new mill?

If you used the parts I listed then you just need OEM SHO parts. Nothing different.

I guess I should say that this is the High Output 3.5L Ecoboost crank, but raptor is more fun. I thought I would make a post separately for this as I think this is some good information for anybody going through a big build. This is all of the items you need for the Raptor Ecoboost to work in your SHO.

Crankshaft part number:

Crank Timing Sprocket:

16+ Updated Pulley:

So here is the deal. I knew this was possible from some other engine builders doing so, just didn't hear anything from them on how to do it. Which I absolutely understand sometimes you keep information to yourself on things like this but wanted to share it with y'all.

Reasoning for the different crank timing sprockets (both 29 teeth and same tooth spacing) is because the snout of the crank shaft on the raptor crank is slightly different. In fact while talking with my parts guy he found out that if you are to order a new short block from ford it has the same style of updated crank and states you need this 16+ crank pulley and the updated crank timing sprocket. So this should be everything you need. All the ecoboost bearings are the same so everything crosses over in that same sense. However always make sure you double check all your bearings etc etc yada yada.

So for anybody looking for a little bit of a better set up, not that our cranks are weak by any means, here is how you do it! I haven't put out any footage on this yet on the youtube channel just because waiting for more parts to come in, but figured this was a good tid bit of information I had to share. I'll update this down the road once I have everything in the engine but this SHOULD be it. I don't see why anything else would need changed because of it due to the updated short blocks having these parts anyways. Let me know if you guys have any questions!
I know this is 4 years old but I'm wondering if you happen to know the part number for the short block you mentioned ?
Im trying to purchase a Short Block for my 2013 SHO PP and when I check my vin on Ford parts website it gives me part # A5Z-6009-E and according to The website this short block is compatible with my car and basically every other Ford with a transverse 3.5l Ecoboost engine but my local dealership is saying that this short block isn't going to work for me for me and they are saying the only difference between that one and the one that's in my car is the Crank shaft and front balancer are different...
I'm wondering if that's the only difference shouldn't it still work for me ?
shouldn't I still be able to bolt my cylinder heads and whatever other parts are needed to make a complete engine out of that short block and just purchase a new front balancer, bolt and crank sprocket ?
Like I said I realized that this post is 4 years old but I'm still hoping to get a little help my car has been down for about a year and it's time to get it fixed and I don't want to put a used motor in it for the second time but I might be willing to rebuild it if I must..

Here is what I have from when I ordered the block for my 2013 PP

Thanks so much for your fast reply..
Im looking to order a short block but im getting a bunch of conflicting information from a couple different Ford dealerships and websites..

The one I was able to come up with is
Part # A5Z-6009-E
I was thinking that maybe that's the same short block you mentioned in your original post that comes with the same Crankshaft you mentioned If that is the one you mentioned then I'll feel way more comfortable ordering the short block..

My current engine has some damage to 2 pistons and a rod knock so I was originally thinking about just rebuilding it but I think I might be better off buying the Short block instead, In 2021 I had to replace the engine and I found a great deal on one out of a 13 SH0 with only 37k on it but that engine only lasted me a little over a year and I always stay on top of oil changes and other important maintenance but it didn't make a difference so I'm not really wanting to put another used motor in it unless I absolutely need to..
Thanks again for your time

Here is the rest of the stuff as well. I'm pretty sure I worked with @Jordan_R for help and got most of my info from his build thread, which includes the raptor gen 2 stuff!

Hey I know this is old but I hope for a reply, what’s the difference between the 8t4z6312a, kt4z-6312-a, HL3z-6312-a, pulleys ? I couldn’t find a new kt4z pulley so I bought a take off from the junk yard, been hunting around for a new pulley for the 16+ crank Sense I’ve bought a updated sho crank (hl3z-6303-L from what I can find is the same as the jl3z crank, just under the sho part number and not a “high output” variant)

The older style has a second unnecessary pulley ribbing for maybe old style power steering. Updated doesn't have it so it's more of a less rotating mass thing.

So the 13 balancer will work with the 16 + crank ? As long as I get the right bolt because the threads are deeper in the snout of the crank ? I bought a junk yard take off balancer off eBay that’s the same part number as the one listed on your build thread, just in case but I was genuinely curious

The newer one still has a large mass where the extra pulley used to be. Remember I milled it down back in the day and reduced the weight by 24%. Here is the thread. You can see a pre 2016 and post 2016 crank side by side in the first post.
