The newer one still has a large mass where the extra pulley used to be. Remember I milled it down back in the day and reduced the weight by 24%. Here is the thread. You can see a pre 2016 and post 2016 crank side by side in the first post.
Interesting, is that the only reason for the updated pulley? It appears the height from the balancer pulley and end of the journal on the old style are longer, will this affect bolting it up and using it with no modification?

I don't know that answer. the part of the pulley that slides into the engine is different looking so I turned down a pre-2016 version.

I’m gonna give both my balancers a measure, I can’t imagine they’re too much different, I assume the 16+ balancers are shorter because the timing gear has a raised area on the front, it appears from the pictures. I can always machine the gear and or balancer to length to keep proper balancer alignment, but I’d rather not.
