Lately my car has been acting rather strange. My 95ATX has always started fairly easily but lately it has been having hard starts. It starts easily in the morning, but when I take my lunch at work it may take around 5 to 7 seconds for it to start instead of 1 or 2 seconds. My CPS and CIDs, and Ignition module have been replaced a few months ago. The only thing that hasn't been done is my 60k and I have 68k on the car. The fuel filter is new. Could old spark plugs cause this? Is this a sign of a failing fuel pump? If so how do I tell if the pump is actually going? Please Help.

It sound like it could be several things, Are you still on the same tank of gas. I would rule that out first. Then start checking other things.

No, this has been occuring over many different tanks of gas. I am pretty regular with changing my fuel filter. I am hoping it does this because of the spark plugs being as old as they are (68k) but I have a feeling it may be something else

Do you just crank the motor right away, or do you turn the key to "on" and wait a few seconds? I found that if I let the fuel pump prime, it'll start immediately. How many miles are on the pump itself?

Theres 68k on the pump itself (as far as I know) I haven't tried to hold the on position before cranking, I may have before but I don't remember, I will try again when I leave work in an hour and respond witth my results when I get home.

In my case, my starting problems seemed to come from a dying starter. It would take a while to start sometimes, more a nd more often, until one day it made a grinding noise, then a couple days later, the starter quit.
