Ok, this is kind of freaky because it's the second time it has happened to me! While i'm out driving, my car will RANDOMLY **** the motor! The motor will stay running while it's in gear, but if i clutch in, it's dead! I can't accelerate and it decelerates VERY slow. In both situations, shutting the ignition off and starting it back on fixed the problem.

The issue has also occurred during two seperate situations. Once, i was at WOT flying down the road, shifted into 2nd and the motor went dead. Second time, i was cruising along, steadily at 40mph in 4th. I'm not sure if this is related as well, but the motor has been bogging out on WOT 1-2 shifts for a second (it'll bark 1-2, go dead, and continue EXACTLY where it was at).

Some kind of Cam or Crank sensor problem?! :oogle:

I had the same problem with the girlfriends saturn. It shut off when I went to leave a stop sign, I thought I just stalled it, be then a couple blocks later it did it while shifting from 1st to 2nd. I disconected the battery and reset the computer, it hasn't done it since, that was like 60 000 km ago.

codes?

I know i recently had some MAF problems that sound close to this.

I agree, this is a typical symtom of MAF failure, although there be other things like the TPS.. like he said check the codes :)

Check and clean battery cable connections at the starter and the battery also check the grounds around the engine bay for starters.

i'm going to dig into it further tomorrow (friday) and post an update. It MUST be sensor related b/c as long as i delay my 1-2 shift, despite how hard i get back into it, it won't do it unless i shift into 2nd really fast.

Last time i checked the codes, it had a bad TPS (hunting idle). Now that's been reset and done. I can't say if this problem (the 1-2 shift death) has been an issue before or after the sensor install, but it definitely did take a crap on me prior to a TPS install on one occasion, but the power flow was normal, it didn't start acting odd until i let off the throttle (started bucking and moaning).

Thanks for all the input, you guys are the best! :thumb:
